One of the most talked-about matches of the year is set to happen this weekend at SummerSlam. John Cena, the current Undisputed WWE Champion, will face Cody Rhodes in a no-rules Street Fight that could change the course of WWE.

Their story goes back to WrestleMania, where Cena controversially took the title from Rhodes. Since then, he has successfully defended the championship against Randy Orton and CM Punk. Now on what he calls his “farewell tour,” Cena has made it clear that he wants to end his career as champion — even if that means taking the title with him.

But Cody Rhodes isn’t giving up easily. After winning the 2025 King of the Ring tournament by defeating Orton in the final, Rhodes is more focused than ever. His goal is simple: to defeat Cena, reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship, and protect the future of professional wrestling.

Despite Cena’s reluctance, Rhodes managed to get him to sign the match contract. Then, in a surprise move, he announced that the match would be a Street Fight — raising the stakes even higher.

SummerSlam 2025 takes place on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3, streaming at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT. Fans in the U.S. can watch on Peacock, while international viewers can catch the action on Netflix.

Personally, I think John Cena might lose this match and drop the Undisputed WWE Title — the same title he controversially won at WrestleMania 41. The main reason is simple: Cena is nearing the end of his career and has already hinted that he’s wrapping up his time in WWE. That alone makes it very likely he’ll pass the torch to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.

However, WWE is known for surprises, and I wouldn’t be shocked if something unexpected happens. One possibility I’m thinking about is the return of Brock Lesnar. If he comes back, he might go after Rhodes again — especially if Cody becomes champion. That would definitely shake things up and set up an intense rivalry for the months ahead.

Whatever happens, this match is definitely worth watching!
